If we wonder what Łukasz Kuś’s Haze series is, we might fall into the trap of analogies and references to the traditions of shutter photography. Except that the fleeting moments that Kuś “catches” with his lens are not an attempt to capture reality, nor do they create a homogeneous document. We see found objects, fragments of the landscape, scraps of diverse materials, tiny cracks, and anonymous forms. We look for a storyline, connections between the photos. But in the end, we realise that there is no concrete story. No beginning or end. What we do have are “shots” covered in “haze”. We are seduced by the first impression, before perceiving the light that is the sensual element of every composition. There are no chance events.
